I was initially drawn to yoga, years ago, because I needed to stretch. As a marathon runner, I had extremely tight hamstrings. I did become stronger and more flexible practicing yoga, but other things began to happen as well. I found that learning how to breathe deeply and evenly allowed me to better manage the stress of every day life. I became increasingly aware of my mental state and thought patterns as a result of meditation and learning to quiet my mind. As I explored further, I discovered timeless wisdom in the Yoga Sutras and other yogic texts.
Because of the great benefits I continued to experience in my life, I decided to become a yoga teacher and received my certification at Kripalu Center in Lenox, Massachusetts. I am currently certified at the 200- hour level, working toward 500- hour certification.
I truly believe if you take the time to explore the practice of yoga, you will be amazed by what unfolds for you.
Excerpts from Richard Fauld's – Kripalu Yoga, A Guide to Practice On and Off the Matt
The Kripalu approach to yoga empowers you to befriend and listen to your body, discovering from your own direct experience what practices support your well-being and growth. The tools of Kripalu yoga awaken the life force that in yoga is called prana. This initiates a natural process of healing, growth, and transformation, revealing the vitality, goodness, and beauty that lie within each of us.
Kripalu yoga is not about attaining any form of external perfection. It is not about developing the perfect body, doing the perfect yoga postures, or living the perfect yoga lifestyle. Kriplau yoga is a way to be fully present to the reality of life unfolding in the moment – however it is showing up. Rather than teaching you how to get somewhere else, it helps you be fully where you are.
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or
some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for.
We are the change that we seek.
